Fix 404 Pages Module
- The "Fix 404 pages" module is available on all KU Sunflower sites.
- If the module is not already on your site, please email webservices@ku.edu to request it be added.
What Are 404 Errors?
- 404 is just the technical term for "page not found"
What Does the "Fix 404 Pages" Module Do?
- Logs all the failed attempts to locate pages on your site
- Provides a quick way to review the logs and create redirects as needed
Note About Pagination
- At the bottom of the “Fix 404 pages” page, it looks like there is just one page in the pagination.
- There are actually numerous pages that you must scroll through manually.
- Use the right arrow carrots to scroll through and see all the pages that are there.
Only Redirect What Real Users Are Trying to Find
- As the site administrator, you are the only one who can determine what does/does not need to be redirected.
- Do not feel like you have to redirect everything.
- We recommend looking at the first 2 - 5 pages and addressing anything that concerns you. Then come back frequently to review those top 2 - 5 pages.
- Only redirect the entries that you know are clearly real users attempting to find content.
- You will see numerous entries for hits to the site that are not coming from real users – likely from bot traffic. It is okay to ignore these.
- If you want to redirect to the home page, you can simply type in <front> in the "To" field.
